Oral History Space Lunchtime Presentation Series Day 1

Thursday May 13th, 2010

Noon: HOMETOWN LECTURE is an inclusive presentation about peoples’ hometowns. Come and share! Talk about where you are from. What do you remember? What was it like? Although not mandatory, you might bring a photograph or artifact to illustrate. Public Social University Co-Director Judy Fleming will facilitate. Hometown Lecture was conceived by Nicole Lavelle.

1:00: ANNE LEVANT PRAHL has worked in the field of archival and museum collection management for 20 years, creating collections databases and advising on storage and conservation. She oversees all aspects of collecting, registration, and cataloging of the collection at the Oregon Jewish Museum (OJM). Ms. Prahl is also responsible for training the interns and volunteers who work in the collection, and producing training manuals and guides for that purpose. She also oversees the museum's Oral History Project, which collects first-person narratives of the Jewish experience in Oregon. She will be discussing this project, including its importance in the founding of the OJM.

Presentations will occur in Roosevelt Square (SW Park between Jefferson & Madison) at the base of the Teddy Roosevelt Statue. Bring your lunch, questions, curiosity, observations, ideas, and friends!
